Red Martinis
A shaft of sunlight illuminated these tiny beauties in a secondary rainforest on the Osa Peninsula.
Moments after I took this shot, after pulling all my gear back into my backpack amid 100% humidity, I set off down the path and struck my walking stick ahead of me. Before I noticed it, my stick struck the ground inches away from a Fer-de-Lance (Bothrops asper). It jumped - thankfully, away from me into the brush. What a close call!
